Can one beat the odds of starting a business with no knowledge of the products or the industry? Yes! With determination, luck and desperation Maxwell Lee, along with his buddy Kevin Toshima, and former boss Charles Chang, started Adenna Inc. in a shared office using capital from personal savings and with the support of their overseas supplier.
This year Adenna Inc., a medical exam gloves and disposable products importer and distributor celebrates its 10-year anniversary, and is moving to a 26,500 SF facility to accommodate its expansion. Adenna began with just two products and today carries a full range of exam gloves, including black gloves for the tattoo, beauty and law enforcement industries.
Adenna was ranked by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in 2004, and as one of the fastest growing minority owned companies by LA Business Journal in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 the company entered a joint venture with a manufacturing partner in China to begin production of other healthcare products in order to broaden its product offering to its growing network of dealers and distributors.
UCI Medical Center, Cook County Hospital, many dental offices, clinics, nursing homes, labs, veterinarians, fast food chains, auto mechanics, tattoo parlors across the country are long time Adenna’s customers.
“It is the hard work and dedication of our team members, and support of our dealers who got us where we are today. We thank everyone for their efforts. As a small company, we try to provide ‘big company’ benefits as our appreciation in return,” says Maxwell Lee, President. Besides healthcare insurance and paid vacation, the company also provides catered lunches, holiday dinners and Starbucks coffee treats.
