Over a decade ago, Ms. Genevieve Pacana, a long-time member of Asian Business Association, established The “G” Crew in Glendale, California.
Still in the same building in Glendale, The “G” Crew or TGC has grown from a very small consulting firm providing Construction Management (CM) project support services, to a growing, solid Inspection and CM Support Services firm.
TGC has provided various services for large and high profile projects. Past projects include the Walt Disney Concert Hall, MTA Metro Red Line Segments 2 & 3, the MTA Metro Blue Line Extension, LAX Cargo Building “A” – the new United Airlines Cargo Facility, and Van Nuys Superior Courthouse, among others.
Currently, TGC is providing Inspection Services for the LAC+USC Replacement Project - the almost $1B highly-anticipated hospital project, several hospitals, courthouses, community centers and parks, juvenile halls, and many more public structures. TGC is also involved with several school projects, providing DSA Inspection.
Just like any other small business that started in the CM Industry, especially in the early 90’s, The “G” Crew’s status as a Minority (MBE), Woman-Owned (WBE), Small (SBE), Disadvantaged (DBE) Business Enterprise, was helpful in getting the firm to participate in public works projects; however it had to establish itself as a quality-driven company to maintain and acquire new business. TGC regularly downloads proposals and business opportunities from public agency websites, and attends pre-proposal conferences. At these conferences, TGC comes prepared to meet with potential teaming partners by knowing and highlighting what it would bring to the table in terms of its services for that particular project.
It is very important for any business to be proactive in its marketing strategy, and this has been proven true by TGC’s own history. One of the best ways to get advance information about the industry, and to get introduced to key people is by belonging to a professional organization.
Thanks to professional business associations like the Asian Business Association, TGC has met and established relationships with many of the major players in its Industry, both in the private and public sectors.
Combining ABA’s offerings with the opportunities that TGC has received from its Primes (usually multi-million dollar Construction Management, Construction and Engineering companies) and the nurturing from Small Business Advocates from the public agencies, TGC’s goal of becoming a solid, well-known medium-sized Inspection and CM support services firm, is easier to attain.
TGC is now looking forward to expanding its services to San Diego, Northern California and Nevada, and it will continue to keep its close ties with ABA and other professional organizations to ensure that it is updated with the trends and needs of the industry.
If you are interested in contacting TGC for any opportunity, please email us at thegcrew_tgc@msn.com. We very much welcome any ABA member to discuss possible teaming arrangements or Prime-Sub relationships.
