Dear ABA Members, Friends and Supporters, Welcome to a new year! I am pleased to announce that this is the ABA’s thirtieth anniversary of its founding. ABA-LA is the oldest of our affiliated ABA organizations which are now located in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Orange County and San Diego. It is an accomplishment of which we can all be very proud. In this time, the ABA has come to stand for the voice of the Asian Business Community. We were founded upon the principal of creating greater opportunities for Asian businesses to reach their full potential in growth and prosperity. Along the way we have opened the doors for our members to participate in contracting opportunities with government and municipal agencies as well as private corporations. We have also provided educational opportunities for our members in order to help them to operate their businesses more successfully and we have also provided opportunities for our members to meet one another in person and through our website in order to do business with one another as well as partner together for larger business opportunities. My goals for the year are to continue growing the programs which have been the foundation of the ABA. I will also work hard to enhance the profile of the ABA so that the greater business and government communities at large, as well as the Asian community, are more aware of the good things which the ABA has done and continues to deliver. In the works for 2006 we have already begun to plan the following events: 1. Annual Golf Tournament; 2. Keys to Business Success; 3. Creation of a speakers bureau for ABA; 4. Revamped website for members to contact one another and to promote their businesses; 5. Enhancements to our affiliation programs; 6. Joint ventures with other Asian organizations in order to produce educational and procurement opportunity events; 7. A job market; 8. Trade mission to China; 9. Mentoring program; 10. Student scholarship program; 11. Annual awards banquet.
These are just a few of the tremendous programs and opportunities which we intend to deliver to our members and supporters. I encourage you to participate in our activities. If you would like to work with us in developing these and additional programs please do not hesitate to contact our office. Sincerely yours, Gordon K. Eng Chairman Asian Business Association
