“Gong Shi Fa Tsai”! In my language that basically means “A Happy and Prosperous New Year” and we hope that will be true for all of you!
The ABA Board Directors and many members of the Corporate Advisory Council started the year at our Annual Retreat, a time when we meet to plan the course of ABA. It was a very productive time of lively and spirited discussion on how to grow ABA and provide true benefits for our faithful members.
I am happy to report that many of our goals for 2004 were met such as increasing membership and increasing/stabilizing our financial base. Yet, we know we still have much more to accomplish. We are diligently working on specific and directed educational programs to help you run and/or improve your businesses. We’ve also launched the Affinity Program to help you reduce some of the costs of running your business and Membership market place where members can promote their company on our website. Check out this program and our partners in the program at our website: www.aba-la.org
I would also like to introduce you to our new Board Members for 2005-2006. Please welcome: Sunnie Kim of Hana Financial; Soa Kang of Ten Communications; Arnold Ng of The Insight Company; and Linda Young of Tailored Baskets. Each of them has already demonstrated commitment by participating in our Annual Retreat and contributing fresh and new ideas.
A warm welcome is likewise due to new Corporate Advisory Council Members, Steve Lee of Enterprise Rent-a-Car (also one of our new affinity program partners) and Michael Carney of SBC. They were both present at our Retreat and likewise provided invaluable insight and guidance for the ABA.
Well, it’s time to get to work and we hope you will join us and get involved to make this our most successful year ever!

Welcome new and returning members of Asian Business Association (ABA)! It is my honor to be serving as president of this great organization. It is also my pleasure to be continuing the good work of my predecessor Lily Chia Tsau.
Over the next two years, my mandate is to reinforce the building blocks of this organization before taking ABA to another level of opportunity, support, networking and education. It is important to go back to the basics, enhancing membership benefits first in order to increase our numbers and create more business opportunities. By accomplishing this task, the organization will then have the necessary foundation to expand into the kind of community that its entrepreneurial members need and deserve.
The top three goals of my presidency are: 1. To simplify and focus our efforts on improving membership benefits, and thus enlarge the membership base of ABA. 2. To strengthen the ties between ABA and Asian Business Community Development (ABCD) in order to allow us to work collectively, share resources, and widen our network of support. 3. To implement a succession plan within the executive committee, allowing for ease in transition.
I believe that with your support, we will build Asian Business Association into a center of the entrepreneurial business community of the greater Los Angeles area, providing invaluable membership benefits and unmatched business opportunities to all its members.
