Johnathan Hou 1998 & 99
Johnathan Hou has been actively involved in promoting small and minority businesses in mainstream American business communities for nearly 20 years. In 1991, Mr. Hou was appointed by Judge Harry Pregerson, United States Circuit Judge to the Board of the Century Freeway Affirmative Action Committee, Inc. (CFAAC) representing Asian Communities. While serving on the CFAAC Board, he advocated on behalf of Asian communities as well as other ethnic minority groups on issues related to affirmative actions and equal opportunities in public contracts.
Mr. Hou is the President of AXIOM Engineering and Science Corporation, which provides consulting engineering services in civil/structural/environmental engineering and construction management. Headquartered in Tustin, California, AXIOM has performed and completed a number of federal and state contracts which include a $200 Million Federal Correction Facility in Taft, California in 1996; a specialty international conference for Federal Highway Administration in 1994-1995. The conference had drawn more than 1000 government officials, engineers, contractors and specialty vendors from all over the world. Participants, to name a few, came from United States, Germany, Britain, China, Taiwan, South America, Brazil, Russian and other eastern block countries. AXIOM, in conjunction with Professor Leschinski of University of Delaware, had completed a state-of-the-art computer program for earth retaining wall systems for the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); and worked with Professor Mike O’Neill (University of Houston) to develop a state-of-the-art drilled shafts manual for FHWA. The manual will ultimately be used by DOTs in all 50 States for their highway, bridge design.
Recently, the firm completed architectural engineering design and studies for a number of transit projects for the MTA totaling about $30 million in construction cost.
