President’s Profile
Y. Scott Wang 1994 & 95
As an immigrant to the U.S. in 1976, Scott Wang sought the opportunities, excitement, and promise that a new land could bring. For 10 years, Mr. Wang worked in a major corporation and then decided to further his dreams by becoming an entrepreneur. In 1986, He jumped to a new stage for himself by starting a small business and has since experienced both the rewards and challenges of entrepreneurship.
As a small business owner, Mr. Wang began to witness some of the existing inequalities in American society. He began to understand that opportunities and hopes did not land equally on each person or group and that it was a side of America that required a lot of governmental and social attention.
When Mr. Wang joined the Asian Business Association (ABA), He wanted to become involved in an organization that aimed to effect positive social change through the interaction of business groups and individuals and local, regional, and national government entities. There is no doubt that ABA has asserted that role and contributed immensely throughout its 30-year existence. To name a few, such as the firm support of Affirmative Action programs, the active promotion of business opportunities for Asian American businesses, and the steadfast outreach for social and ethnic understanding and harmony.
ABA has been a tremendously rewarding experience for Mr. Wang. It strengthened his character, lifted his horizons with positive goals, and rewarded him with meaningful friendships that continue to be treasured.
Life goes on in different stages. One stage of Mr. Wang’s life was brightened by his participation in ABA. He would like to suggest you to join that spirit in ABA and to do your part for those in need.
Mr. Wang is the founder and CEO of Ampac Management Group, Inc. in Monterey Park, California. His company provides services in general construction, real estate development and management. Mr. Wang served in various capacities, either as a member of the controlling board or as an advisory member of boards and committees, in both public and private as well as for-profit and non-profit entities.
