Executive Director’s Report Dennis J. Huang
ED Report Summer 2004
5/1/2004
Thank you Sponsors, Golfers and Volunteers
On Tuesday, March 30, ABA Teed-off its 6th Annual Golf Tournament with the biggest turn out ever! We would like to apologize to the people on our waiting list that did not have the opportunity to play. As for the lucky golfers, they experienced a beautiful day with competitive contests, exciting prizes, great networking opportunities and lots of fun! Part of the proceeds generated from this golf tournament will be allocated for our scholarship program. Applications are now available online at www.aba-la.org. We would like to thank all of our sponsors, golfers and volunteers who truly made this event possible. This is a friendly reminder to register for next year’s tournament.

Gut Instincts
In California, Businesses today are dealing with workers’ comp, health insurance and utilities issue that directly affect their bottom line. While these costs are difficult to control, businesses need to be armed with the knowledge and education that would assist them in their decision making. Although gut instincts still contribute to this process, I believe one’s background, education, and experience play a bigger role for these executives. This is why ABA will be giving “keys” to businesses that will assist them down the road of success. We are very excited to announce the continuation of our business educational seminar, Keys to Business Success, on Friday, June 25, 2004 at Edison’s CTAC in Irwindale. This year, we are fortunate to have Arnold Ng, ABA member, principal of Insight Company and an adjunct professor at Pepperdine Graziadio Graduate School, assisting us in coordinating our workshops. We are making the event very reasonable, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors who are subsidizing a portion of the cost. Everyone who registers can attend all the workshops. Fees also include breakfast, lunch, exhibitors’ marketplace and door prizes. You must register by June 18 with the ABA office. Space is limited.

October is Right Around the Corner
We are now gearing up for our awards banquet in October. It is here where we have the opportunity to celebrate successful business owners in our community. So if you know anyone who is outstanding in his or her field of business, or anyone who is active in the community, we invite you to nominate them for the Business of the Year Award and Community Service of the Year Award, respectively. In addition, you can also send nominations for the Corporate, Advocate and Member of the Year Awards. Please email info@aba-la.org for a copy of the nomination form. Self nomination is accepted. Deadline to submit nominations will be due on June 30, 2004 for consideration.
