Executive Director’s Report Dennis J. Huang
ED Report Springs 2004
3/1/2004
Asian Business Association (ABA) had another successful turnout at our holiday party in December. We installed our 2004 board of directors and reduced the board to lucky thirteen. We were also invited to celebrate and congratulate Kenneth T. Lombard, the outgoing LADWP Board President, at The Getty House with Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn. As we wrap up 2003, we are very excited about our programs lined up for this year! ABA’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council gave up their personal time to participate in ABA’s planning retreat in the beautiful Indian Wells early January. Under the new leadership of Joseph Jou, ABA’s new president, his message was clear. “Let’s focus on quality of our programs and perform them well.” The most important outcome from the 2-day retreat was to grow membership. This can be accomplished by increasing more membership benefits.

At ABA, we continue to focus on the needs of our members. In 2004, we have schedule a workshop with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. This will be a free event exclusively for ABA members. On June 25, we will continue to build on our business seminar Keys to Business Success. Featured topics are: Keys to Preparing a Winning RFP (request for proposal), Keys to Finding the Right Source of Capital, and Keys to Selecting the Right Technology for your Business. Success stories will be featured on Keys to Marketing Success.

Do not forget to register for our 6th Annual Golf Tournament presented by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. The purpose of the golf tournament is to fund educational and business training programs for the Asian business community. This year, we will be teeing it up at Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda. Every golfer will have the opportunity to participate in many contests and a chance to win a brand new Honda! We anticipate a sell out crowd, as we did last year. To ensure your spot, please register early. Other sponsorship opportunities are available. Please visit our website at www.aba-la.org for more details.

We look forward to meeting new faces and getting reacquainted with our “regulars” at our events!
